Blue & Gold Dinner / Friends of Scouting
The Blue & Gold Dinner is a birthday celebration for Scouting held by Cub Scout packs in February to celebrate the founding of the Boy Scouts of America in 1910 and of Cub Scouting in 1930.
Friends of Scouting is an annual drive to raise funds for the council. -
Cub-On Camping
The Cub-On is a great outdoor opportunity for Cub Scout families to enjoy Cutter Scout Reservation. Each family pitches a tent at one of the group sites with their pack and spends all day Saturday and half of Sunday participating in the activities. The only scheduled items are the meals, campfire and a couple of special programs. -
Cub-Parent Weekend
The Cub-Parent Weekend is an outdoor experience with a theme. These activities are held at the Boulder Creek Scout Reservation. -
Earth Day Activity
In April we select at least one project for the pack to participate in, to promote awareness for the environment and community service. -
Memorial Day Grave Decoration
An annual event on Memorial Day, based on citizenship and respect for those who have defended our country's values. -
Milk Carton Boat Race
Our annual event to kickoff the summer with a barbeque lunch and fun activities, concluding with boat races between Wolf, Bear and Webelos dens. The boats vary in construction, but buoyancy is provided by waxed paper milk and juice containers. The barbeque is open to boys and their families who are considering joining our pack. -
Pinewood Derby
Each spring we dedicate one pack meeting to racing Pinewood Derby cars. This long-standing tradition in Cub Scouting is a race between carved and decorated, gravity-propelled 7" long cars, three at a time. Our pack uses an electronic timing system, race management software and a projection system to keep everyone aware of race results. Click HERE for official Pack 61 Pinewood Derby Rules for 2010. -
Popcorn Sales Fundraiser
Each fall, to raise funds for our pack's programs, we sell a variety of popcorn products at local markets and within our neighborhoods. The proceeds help cover our pack's costs, which greatly exceed the annual dues. -
Raingutter Regatta and Space Derby
Each fall we spend a portion of one pack meeting racing rockets or sailboats. We alternate these events each year. Our pack has chosen to minimize the competitive aspects of these activities. Instead we concentrate on the shared woodworking and decorating experience, on encouraging scout to "do your best" and to have fun.- Raingutter Regatta: wood sailboats that are blown by scouts along an 8' rain gutter, two at a time.
- Space Derby: carved balsa wood rockets that move along a fishing line by wound-up rubber bands and a propeller, four at a time.
-
Scout-O-Rama
An annual Pacific Skyline Council event that demonstrates various scouting activities and is open to the public. -
Scouting For Food
An annual food drive in the Bay Area. -
Sea Scout Cruise, or Cub Cruise
The Sea Scout Cruise, or Cub Cruise, is an annual summertime activity sponsored by our council. The activity involves a scenic tour around the San Francisco Bay aboard the Sea Scouts’ ship.
